Il cielo dietro il monte (2011)

Duration: ca. 2′
Instrumentation: two guitars

Purchase

In the summer of 2011, I attended the soundSCAPE festival in Maccagno, Italy. As part of the festival, we had an event together with the local art museum where composers in the festival wrote short miniatures in response to one of the paintings on display. The painting I chose was Il cielo dietro il monte, the sky behind the mountains, by Maria Clara Quarenghi, a beautiful composition of blues and greens, light and dark. The twin guitars form a delicate texture of quiet harmonics to complement the subtlety of the painting.
